May 24, 2022
With the recent outbreak of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) in Malaysia, parents are concerned as young kids are vulnerable to this disease. This is due to their weaker immune systems than the adults. HFMD is a highly contagious viral infection that usually begins in the throat.

The viruses spread via direct contact with nose and throat discharges, saliva, fluid from blisters or the stools of an infected person. Young kids are susceptible to this infection during their outdoor adventure especially at crowded areas.

Well, what are the symptoms of HFMD? It usually begins with a fever, reduced appetite, and sore throat. Few days after these, a nasty skin rash or blisters develop on the palms, feet, buttocks and so on. The infected child will slowly get painful sores or blisters in the mouth and swallow will be hard as it is very painful.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PROTECT YOUR KIDS FROM HFMD?

As we know that HFMD viruses are spreading fast in the crowded or public areas, so it's essential to avoid any outdoor activities if there's an outburst of HFMD. If it's absolutely necessary to take your little precious out, do avoid crowded places to prevent infection.

You should keep your little boos away from any possible place that starts the outbreaks. For instance, it could be any outdoor playground, theme park, water park, shopping mall, beach, swimming pool and so on.

Most importantly, as a parent you need to know what are the steps to prevent spreading of this contagious disease.
