One of the greatest joys of parenthood for me is going through new experiences with my baby. As a first-time Mummy, any form of activities with baby (especially the first time) is always exciting for me. There is quite a bit of mixture of emotions – anticipation and a few jitters. Honestly, I am rather worried I missed out on a thing or two (which I did in his first water training). So to make things easier for other parents, here’s a complete checklist for your child’s needs.
1) POOL
Pick a clean pool. If possible, go for a thermal pool.
2) SWIMWEAR
For younger babies, I would strongly recommend going for thermal swimsuit. This helps to keep your babies warmer longer and let them enjoy their swim session more!
Refer to the above picture to know which is the best design for your child.
3) DISPOSABLE SWIM DIAPERS
Disposable swim diapers helps to keep your little ones poo and pee in and keep the pool clean. Just so you know, some places do impose fines if your child contaminates the pool as it does affect the swim sessions for other children.
4) REUSABLE SWIM DIAPERS
Particularly in swim schools, they would require your child to be fitted with a reusable swim diaper (with nettings) on top of the disposable swim diapers to prevent any form of leakages.
5) SWIMMING ACCESSORIES (I.E. HATS/GOGGLES)
Babies don’t need goggles but hats are especially good to have if you are swimming outdoors.
6) FLOATS
Usually, this would be provided by the swim schools. But if you are going to a private pool at your condo or a hotel, you can try using a seating float if your baby can sit unassisted or with slight assistance or a body float if your child is already a toddler.
7) TOWELS OR EVEN CAPE TOWELS
Get a cute one because most of the photos take place when drying up!
8) BODY CLEANING PRODUCTS/LOTIONS
This was what I missed out on. Tip: Get those sample-sized or travel-sized so that they are extremely lightweight.
9) WET BAG
Wet bag for all the wet swim items. I always use them to pack my dry swimming items.
10) CLEAN CLOTHES
A set of clean clothes/ diapers to change into.
If your child is a frequent swimmer, pack all these things into a bag so that you can always grab and go. And there, we have the 10 items to pack for a fun swim day!
